Victorians for Transportation Choice consists of seven organizations who are looking for better transportation solutions for all. This includes children, families, seniors and people with disabilities. We look to talk with political leaders, especially around municipal elections. Currently we are focusing on the October 15th municipal and CRD elections and we are asking candidates to fill out our questionnaire, which we have published here. Learn more about their positions on sustainable transportation in the Greater Victoria Area. Let’s Get Informed, Let’s Vote for a Better Victoria.

Meet our Coalition

A Group of Committed Citizens to Sustainable Transportation in Greater Victoria

Capital Bike

Capital Bike is a member-driven organization that seeks to have more people cycling, more places, more often. We advocate for better bike and roll routes, and run biking events that celebrate the fun in biking.

Better Transit Alliance of Greater Victoria (BTA)

The Better Transit Alliance is a grassroots group of residents advocating for better public transit in Greater Victoria. We see improving public transit as an important way to advance social and climate justice, as well as making our region a healthier and more pleasant place.

Greater Victoria Placemaking Network (GVPN)

We are a group of Greater Victoria residents dedicated to improving our region’s shared places. Our Mission is to inspire people, neighbourhoods and communities to create vibrant public places that promote health, happiness and well-being. We focus on what happens in ‘the public realm’ in Greater Victoria – in our places, green spaces, on our streets and informal gathering areas. Placemaking is about bringing neighbours, businesses, specialists, visitors and others to collaborate in creating great places.

Walk On Victoria (WOV)

Walking is a healthy and environmentally-friendly form of transportation and recreation that fosters vibrant communities and provides an enjoyable experience for residents and visitors alike. Despite these benefits and the popularity of walking among residents, the interests of pedestrians are often overlooked. Walk On, Victoria intends to change that through advocacy and events that promote walking and encourage policymakers to prioritize the interests of pedestrians.

British Columbia Sustainable Energy Association (BCSEA) – Victoria Chapter

The BC Sustainable Energy Association is a member-supported non-profit society working to empower British Columbians to switch from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Our vision is for the world to be entirely powered by renewable energy, and for BC to contribute its share to bring about this transformation.

Vancouver Island Transportation Corridor Coalition (VITCC)

The Vancouver Island Transportation Corridor Coalition’s goal is to bring modern, efficient, and low-environmental-footprint rail service to Vancouver Island as the core of the Island’s passenger and freight transportation system, integrated with other transportation modes. One which enables and supports diverse, inclusive, and sustainable community economic development and employment.

Action Committee of People with Disabilities (ACPD)

The Action Committee of People with Disabilities’ mission is to put into action through advocacy the empowerment, social inclusion, and economic equity for all People with Disabilities. We aim to promote the awareness and understanding of the issues and barriers faced by people with disabilities living in the community. Our entire organization is staffed by people with disabilities and volunteers.
