1. Do you support re-aligning municipal and regional transportation plans and investments to meet the provincial government’s CleanBC target to “reduce distances travelled in light-duty vehicles by 2030 compared to 2020″?

Yes

2. Do you support making the default speed limit 30 km/h for streets without centrelines?

I think this would have to be a broader discussion amongst all municipalities. It could be quite confusing for people to know if this speed limit would apply or not if not all municipalities didn’t sign on.

3. Do you commit to budgeting sufficient funds to accelerate your active transportation network plan?

Yes

4. Do you support using neighbourhood-wide traffic calming to create low traffic neighbourhoods with much lower traffic volume with quick build materials?

Yes, where possible and I’d be interested in solutions to other frequent speeding areas on roads more difficult to apply traffic calming to.

5. How would you support making walking safer and more enjoyable in Colwood?

More sidewalks, more lighting and safer routes next to main arteries.

6. Do you support building a network of all ages and abilities (“AAA”) bike and roll routes throughout Colwood?

Yes

7. Do you support welcoming people who use wheelchairs and mobility scooters to use all ages and abilities (AAA) bike and roll routes?2

Yes and I’d like to ensure there are accessible routes to our beaches and waterways as well as parks.

8. Do you support rapidly completing the 24/7 bus lanes for BC Transit’s proposed RapidBus route along the Highway 1 / Sooke Road corridor, as well as similar measures along all of BC Transit’s proposed RapidBus routes across the CRD?

Yes, we need a way to move people quicker from the Westshore to Downtown, to eliminate the Colwood Crawl. If you make it easy for people they will park their cars and ride.

9. With the court-imposed deadline of March 14, 2023 to keep the Island Rail Corridor intact, how would you support modern rail service for Vancouver Island?

I would like to see an LRT route implemented. Let’s stop talking about it and get it done.

10. Do you support making transit fares more affordable, both by reducing the cost of passes and individual fares and free or discounted passes for youth, seniors, and people living on low incomes?

Compared to driving, transit passes are quite reasonable in cost. I don’t think this is something municipalities can take on but if the Provincial government or Federal government initiated a program, it might be feasible to look at.

11. Do you support removing the requirements for off-street vehicle parking from new and infill developments while adding requirements for car share, EV charging, bike and other micromobilty parking, as well as expanding accessible parking?

Not at this time but I do believe we already do and continue to add accessible parking.

12. How would you activate and bring more people into public spaces within Colwood, including sidewalks, public squares, streets and parks?

Smart connections, walkabout routes like a boardwalk or public areas where people can mingle, shop, etc.

13. Do you support adding substantively more accessible public bathrooms across Colwood?

Yes, I believe public bathrooms have been included in recently built out communities and Colwood is currently adding some to parks where possible.
