1. Do you support re-aligning municipal and regional transportation plans and investments to meet the provincial government’s CleanBC target to “reduce distances travelled in light-duty vehicles by 2030 compared to 2020?

yes

2. Do you support making the default speed limit 30 km/h for streets without centrelines?

yes. Living in a rural area has several advanatges, one being a horse owner. Lower speed limits to 30km on unmarked roads would be a safe move for all alternative road users such as pedestrians, families out for bike rides, walkers and hikers, dog walkers and equestrians .

3. Do you commit to budgeting sufficient funds to create an active transportation plan and then accelerate its completion.

Having an active transportation plan is something I could support and long over due. Metchosin contributes to the Western Comminities in many ways. Metchosin offers many beaches, parks and local farms all which would bebefit from an active transportation plan.

4. Do you support using neighbourhood-wide traffic calming to create low traffic neighbourhoods with much lower traffic volume with quick build materials?

I don’t believe this is a concept that would apply to Metchosin. A lot of our rural roads have natural barriers to cutting off traffic flow, the roads just end, at a beach, a farm, forest or the federal prison.

5. How would you support making walking safer and more enjoyable in Metchosin?

Metchosin adopted a roadside trail program that needs to be expanded to all main roadways.

6. Do you support building a network of all ages and abilities (“AAA”) bike and roll routes throughout Metchosin?

I am not totally convinced that Metchosin is an area where this would be appropriate. I see so many children on mobility devices with passengers zipping along shoulders of main roads in Langford and Colwood. Many not old enough to have driver license. All travelling faster than the current flow of traffic. I would like to see provincial leadership and direction in this regard before I give support.

7. Do you support welcoming people who use wheelchairs and mobility scooters to use all ages and abilities (AAA) bike and roll routes?

In principle I support welcoming people who use Wheelchairs and mobility scooters to use (AAA) bike and roll routes. I am still not convinced all electric devices should be mixed in the same groups without rules and regulations. Then I would be concerned in regards to safety and speed limits.

8. Do you support rapidly completing the 24/7 bus lanes for BC Transit’s proposed RapidBus route along the Highway 1 / Sooke Road corridor, as well as similar measures along all of BC Transit’s proposed RapidBus routes across the CRD?

Yes. However I would like to see a more frequent transit schedule in Metchosin during the summer months to decrease parking needs at parks and beaches. A late evening transit system along Metchosin main corridors should also be considered

9. With the court-imposed deadline of March 14, 2023 to keep the Island Rail Corridor intact, how would you support modern rail service for Vancouver Island?

I would bring a vote to the residents of Metchosin. To keep the Island Rail Corridor intact will take considerable financing.

10. Do you support making transit fares more affordable, both by reducing the cost of passes and individual fares and free or discounted passes for youth, seniors, and people living on low incomes?

yes

11. Do you support removing the requirements for off-street vehicle parking from new and infill developments while adding requirements for car share, EV charging, bike and other micromobilty parking, as well as expanding accessible parking?

not applicable to metchosin for the most part however the CRD should consider safe bike parking in the parks systems.

12. How would you activate and bring more people into public spaces within Metchosin, including sidewalks, public squares, streets and parks?

(CANDIDATE DID NOT ANSWER)

13. Do you support adding substantively more accessible public bathrooms across Metchosin?
